The 2026 Czech Chemists’ Congress brought more than 200 researchers, students and industry professionals to Ústí nad Labem. HABRINOL Děčín s.r.o. was a silver partner of the 78th congress. From 7 to 10 September, the company welcomed visitors to its stand outside the lecture halls to discuss its work with arylsulfonic acids and bespoke chemical blends.

Congress brings academic and industrial chemistry together
The event was organised by Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem and the Czech Chemical Society. It was the congress’s first return to the city in 20 years. For HABRINOL, it was a chance to introduce its chemical manufacturing work to people beyond its established industrial customers.
The company wanted to put products and processes behind its name, meet students and graduates, and make connections across the chemical sector.
Conversations with researchers and laboratory suppliers
Throughout the congress, HABRINOL representatives met people from universities, research organisations, industrial companies and public bodies. They also spoke with suppliers of laboratory equipment, analytical instruments and research chemicals. The conversations offered insights into developments across the sector and opportunities for collaboration.

For students and graduates, the stand offered a practical picture of how chemical production, process technology, laboratory testing and logistics work together at one manufacturing site. Researchers and industry visitors were also interested in the range of services available alongside standard products, including contract manufacturing, blending and bespoke sulfonation.
The chemistry behind the HABRINOL name
HABRINOL operates in Děčín‑Boletice nad Labem in the Czech Republic. By 2026, it had been manufacturing chemicals for 30 years. Its production expertise builds on that of the original HABRINOL Halle company, with a focus on sulfonation and chemical blends made to customer specifications.
Two acids and bespoke blends
- p‑Toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA), CAS 104-15-4, is manufactured and supplied as an aqueous solution. The standard concentration is 64–66%; concentrations of 40–66% are available on request.
- Xylenesulfonic acid (XSA), CAS 25321-41-9, EC 701-247-3, is the other arylsulfonic acid in the company’s range.
- Bespoke blends combine acids with organic or inorganic ingredients, such as monoethylene glycol, phosphoric acid or lactic acid.

Ten reactors and testing for every batch
The Děčín site has 10 reactors, an on‑site laboratory and a filling hall. Its facilities also include compressed‑air and nitrogen stations, reverse osmosis equipment for producing demineralised water, and a backup diesel generator. The company employs more than 25 people and exports to over 15 countries.
Every batch is tested in the on‑site laboratory and supplied with a certificate of analysis.
The laboratory checks each batch against defined specifications. A bespoke formulation can involve more than adjusting the concentration of PTSA: it may also require changes to the free sulfuric acid content or the composition of a blend.
Standard PTSA and XSA are available in smaller quantities, including a single IBC container. For bespoke blends and specialist products, the minimum production quantity is 3 tonnes. Packaging options range from 10-litre containers to drums and IBCs, with road tanker deliveries also available.
Registrations and certifications support production
PTSA and XSA are registered under EU REACH. HABRINOL has an integrated management system certified to several ISO standards. Its manufacturing operations fall within the IPPC and best available techniques (BAT) framework, and the company has an EcoVadis assessment.
These credentials sit alongside the company’s systems for managing quality, the environment, occupational health and safety, and energy. Details of its certifications and facilities are available on the HABRINOL company page.
Thanks to the organisers
Thank you to Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem and the Czech Chemical Society for organising the congress and bringing the chemical community back to the city after 20 years. We also thank everyone who visited the HABRINOL stand and took the time to speak with us during the breaks and accompanying events.
